Railway Sleepers are with the exception of Garden Mini Sleepers very heavy. Our trucks are a little bigger than a dustcart and are not normally able to block residential streets like dustcarts do because our unloading procedure takes too long. Our vehicles are normally manned by one person.

It is normal practice to unload onto private land such as your driveway or front garden to avoid leaving a hazard for the general public. This means that we need to be able to pull across your driveway or sometimes to drive onto it. Parked cars and narrow streets are a major issue faced by our delivery people every day and can delay other customer's deliveries. Please tell us about your circumstances.

Crane Lorries - Please Don't be over optimistic these can only lift heavy packs of Railway Sleepers a short distance from the side of the lorry. Overhead wires are an added hazard, which can prevent us operating the crane.

Drop Side Lorries - These trucks carry approx. 3.5 tonnes of product and are used for smaller quantities. They are have to be unloaded using a forklift or by hand. If unloading by hand then the sleepers have to be dropped off right next to the lorry, they are too heavy to be carried.

Sleeper supplies want you to take an informed view and be realistic about what is practical so as to avoid disappointment on the day of delivery.
